Black-owned Lipstick Brands You Should Know
Happy National Lipstick Day! With all that’s going on in the world today, it’s nice to have a fun holiday to break up the monotony. And why not celebrate the day by supporting a Black-owned business? Below, I’m listing several BOB (Black-Owned Business(es)). Let keep the movement going, and look cute in the process!
Pat McGrath Labs. After serving face backstage at all of the worlds major fashion weeks, Muva (as she is affectionately called), created her own makeup line to include a diverse range of shades. (Pre-Kardashian, and even Fenty!)
Juvia’s Place “The Nude Collection.” This amazing collection was just recently launched and offers the widest range of nude lipsticks for women of color. Currently sold out, join the email list to be updated on the restock, ok?
MDMFLOW. This is a one woman shop, who literally started from the bottom (her parents basement), and now she’s here. The color selections are a beautiful array of shades suited for every skin tone. Her blue and teal are my personal faves.
Uoma Beauty. Created by former LVMH (Louis Vuitton) chairwoman Sharon Chuter, who was inspired by the cultural heritage of Africa. Not only does the brand offer lipsticks, but 51 shades of foundation! Yep. Enjoy, luv.
Mented Cosmetics. Launched by two Harvard Business School Graduates who couldn’t find the proper nude for Black women, Mented was born. Offering not only nude lipsticks, but also nude foundation. Because every woman should be able to see herself in cosmetics. I love it!
There are so many more brands that could be added to the list. However, I wanted to focus on a few brands that might top come to mind immediately when talking BOB cosmetics. Try them out, and let me know what your thoughts are in the comments. As always…
